It’s Starting to Look a Lot Like Christmas. . .

About four more days until Christmas. . . Are you ready?  I’m coming along okay now.  For a while things got pretty hectic, but I think it looks like things are now starting to fall into place (therefore the moment to blog, heheheh).  Most of my cards are out, just a couple little items more to purchase, the few decorations I’ve put out for the house are out, and then the grub for the Christmas Eve dinner will top off the list of things that need to get done.  But I’ll start picking up those things on Wednesday.

Yesterday our knit group had our Christmas luncheon, and boy was that yummy!  I really enjoyed it, and to top it off, our host made all of us these cute little stuffed Christmas trees.  I’ve place it right on my living room table.

Here’s a close up of it.

This year we’ve only lightly decorated.  I have a big ribbon on the front door with several poinsettia plants along the porch.  The only Christmas lights are just framing the doorway.  Although it’s just a little, I think it gives just enough flare for some holiday cheer.

Speaking of making things, this year I made some Christmas cards.  I had a pattern for about thirty little miniature cross stitch stockings.  Here’s what some of them looked like in progress.

Here’s how some of them came out on the cards.

I couldn’t fit them all on one picture, so here are a few more.

I started to address them as I made them, then realized that I forgot to take pictures of all the completed ones.  Oh well.  Here’s a close up of one of them.

I also managed to finish a pair of socks for Aaron.  He made me laugh when he gasped in shock seeing his “hairy” legs on the picture, hehehe.

Here’s a baby vest in the works that my mom asked me to make for her neighbor.

And here’s the vest completed along with a little baby beret.

Okay, that’s about it for now.  My dad has invited us all out for dinner tonight at La Petit Greek, so I better make sure my crew are all clean and have clean cloths for tonight.  Gee, I guess I’d better find something to wear, too!  Toodles!

Thanks, Patti, I’m glad you liked it! I wasn’t able to make enough of them, so had to send our regular cards to other people. So knowing that, I decided to only send the handmade ones to people who I thought would appreciate them more. Especially people who I know make things themselves like you. It made me wonder if you made clothes for your fam again this year? I really liked the idea you had of lining the flannel shirts with quilting. I really want to try that one day.

Well, gotta get back to cooking. I’m a little behind tonight. Will try to hop back on later at the Spin Off thread. You sure had your hands full with Marie! And yes, people can and do get bone infections. From what I understand, once an infection gets down into the bone, it’s tough to treat and can take a long time for the infection to clear out. I’ve heard of people treating bone infections for a year or more. . . Hope it’s not in Marie’s bones!

    Okay, yak laters!

We did not do the clothing thing this year. We have always had very modest Christmases. Neither of us is into spoiling our kids. In the past each kid would get a really nice gift (something they really wanted) and a stocking. Then we’d give the three of them a “family gift.” This year Ron wanted to do a really nice Christmas because he really believes that economically things are going to crash this year and he doesn’t see us (or anyone really) being able to spend money come December this year. So we actually got the kids a few more things then usual. Mostly practical, but stuff they wanted. Okay, they did each ask for one toy so we got that. Thankfully, they were small, cheap ones because they have too many already!

Anyways, this year will probably be another make everything year.

Well, I feel priveleged to have gotten one of your stocking cards then! And it was well appreciated in our home. :)
