We made it to the Pines last Tuesday morning. Mom and Uncle Rudy picked us up, and we had breakfast at Sentro. Yum, I have missed Filipino breakfasts. . . Then later in the afternoon Nora and her gang came and visited with us. We had dinner at some Italian restaurant on Bonafacio High Street. Here’s a picture of the gang when we got back to the condo.

And did I mention that Anna came to the Philippines with us!? She’s right next to me on the right side of the picture. She’s on the right end, then comes me, then Aaron, Cynthia and her “grandbaby,” mom, Ophie, Auntie Nora, and Lito. Very nice evening.
Then in the morning Anna and I made sure we got some crafting in. We were still in our PJs.
In the evening we got another visit from more relatives! Andrew and Matthew, there are a couple more of your distant cousins!

From the left to the right–Len, Joe (who likes to be called Pryce), and Aaron (me baby, heheheh).
Okay, gotta run for now!

Just when I think I’ve got all the craft tools I need, I manage to find something else that I want. Actually, the only reason I wanted these were because I’m going on a long trip and would like to knit to help pass the time. Airport checks are pretty random where many times they let knitting needles pass, but other times (and who can predict the whim of the checker) knitting needles might be used as a weapon. Sigh, that’s what I was told as they took one of my circular knitting needles away. Not a good thing to do to an avid knitter. But, I still want to knit! So this time I’ve purchased a pair of HiyaHiya (US 2) and Balene II (US3). I hope these don’t look like menacing weapons to anyone! Hope the picture below proves my point. The HiyaHiyas are the tiny ones on the top left, while the Balene II are on the bottom left. I included my AddiTurbos just to compare how much shorter and my new needles are.

The HiyaHiyas are only 9″ long, and the Balene II are only 11″ long from tip to tip (compared to my Addis which are anywhere from 40″ to 60″ long). Hopefully now I can travel with the peace of mind that no one will take away my knitting needles!
Just for fun I gave it a little test drive. Here’s what they look like while working on a pair of socks.

Feels kinda odd working on such small needles. Although I’ve done plenty of circular knitting especially while making hats, the circle usually isn’t so tiny. It gets the job done, tho, and I’m sure I’ll get used to it.
That’s about all for now. Until next post, which will likely be from the Philippines. Toodles!

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
~Mark Twain
The above quote was used in one of the eulogies for my dad. My cousin used it to describe my dad’s love for traveling and exploring. Dad left his safe harbor (the Philippines) when he was in his early 20’s and continued to explore, dream, and discover by traveling the world until the day he died at the age of 79.
