Solomon was right! “He who tills his land will be satisfied with bread, But he who follows frivolity is devoid of understanding.” Here Solomon implies that not working one’s land for food is frivolous, that is, it is not sensible. Modern urbanization which strives toward producing useless garden plants that appeal to certain lusts of the eye, but which do not feed the nutritional needs of the body is “devoid of understanding.” Hence we are creating an unsustainable environment which is not consistent with the ancient wisdom of the Biblical Solomon.

Now more than ever, individuals and families, wherever they are, should grow food. Now more than ever information is available to promote local and sensible food production using tried, tested and innovative, nontoxic techniques. Keywords include urban agriculture, metrofarm, permaculture, organic gardening, biointensive, biodynamic.
For too long have we received the lie that society’s roots are better off removed from agriculture. We increasingly work in stale, artificially lit, environments, while wondering why so we and so many poeple around us are sick and diseased. We have been systematically deceived that civilization, as it is peddled to us, is better and inevitable. Petroleum-based leaders in chemical, agricultural, and pharmaceutical industries do not want a public trend toward returning to the land with innovative and traditionally non-toxic methods. Yet toxic and industrial agriculture is failing. Small farming has been demonstrated by current intensive scientific investigation to be better able to satisfy the world’s needs for quality and low cost food. See the International Assessment of Agricultural Knowledge, Science and Technology for Development.

Antagonists of humanity include people who, with their secret policies, deceive us that toxic agriculture is beneficial to the human race. These kinds of people are pushing genocidal legislation and policies such as H.R. 875: Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009, which has nothing to do with promoting food safety and has everything to do with intensifying a global trend to remove every bit of self-determination people have to produce and choose their own natural food and natural medicine. The Apostle Paul warned us of such people, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” In modern times, it may not be enough to just turn away from such people due to their ability to use technology to affect us wherever we are: on our food, and in the skies through aerial spraying. Therefore for the promotion of public safetly, these threats to human health and individual welfare must be exposed.

Those who would ignore the dangers of toxic chemicals sprayed on our food and neighborhoods fit Paul’s discription well. They are “lovers of themselves,” which implies that they are out for their own benefit regardless of the peril of others. They are “lovers of money,” which implies that they will ignore the health and welfare of humanity for the profit of monitary gain. They are “boasters.” This tells us of how they will boast of their untested and dangerous techniques as superior to natural techniques, but to the detriment of human health. They are “without self-control,” which implies that they will destroy the lives and livelyhoods of other people due to their lack of discipline. The are “traitors.” which implies that they will sell out to self-interest while marginalizing human safety. They claim some kind of goodness (ie. “godliness”), yet they do not believe in the goodness they claim to cling to. In essence, they are political and societal hypocrates and very dangerous to human welfare.

Consider the following example of environmental recklessness:

In the fall of 2007, the State of California sprayed pesticides over Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties to control the potentially invasive Light Brown Apple Moth (LBAM).

In the following weeks, over 600 people reported adverse health effects, ranging from breathing problems to rashes.

Tens of thousands of Californians called on Governor Schwarzenegger to investigate the health complaints and end the LBAM Eradication Program.

See Here for more info.

Further extremism promoting genocidal policies against humanity in the US and globally through forced toxic chemical exposure is presented by the Natural Solutions Foundation. Also see the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund. And nonais.org.

The standard American paradigm is based on consumerism. Producers produce and consumers consume. Health and fitness have taken a backseat to mindless consumerism, while we buy endless varieties of useless or dangerous industrial products. These processes keep the economic wheels going, which are now bringing our system to the edge of disaster. Solomon, the ancient master of wisdom said, “With the many advisers, plans are made sure.” Yet this proverb will be defeated by just asking assortments of gurus who are all of the same mindset. Now with the ability to quickly shuffle through hordes of information, a skilled eye may be able to find unique and fresh perspectives on fitness based on refined approaches to ancient methods. Scott Sonnon is such a fresh and unique person I have recently discovered.

Living in his youth with a joint, vision and learning disabilities, he worked his way out through what he called “baby steps.” His pilgramage of understanding brought him through mastering the Russian martial art of Sambo and eventually to a thinktank of fitness researchers in the former Soviet Union for the cosmonaut program. Learing from Siberian Shamans and Spetsnaz special forces he has extracted and refined body training to levels of genius. Integrated into his programs are Indian club training, Prasara yoga, Russian kettlebells, and circular motion all bottled up with sophisticated yet elegant explanations and theories.

Of special note to me is how conventional American training compresses the joints resulting in a multitude of sports related joint injuries. Sonnon’s methods emphasize washing the joints with synovial fluid through flowing movements that extend rather than compress the joints. Simple, yet ingenious!

In conversation today with a coworker, he mentioned how his eye doctor told him that at the rate his eyes are going, he could be suffering blindness by the time he is 40.

We are so dependent upon our eyes. Yet the eyes are so much more than mechanical cameras, and there has been much skepticism about how eye problems are treated by conventional optometry.

Traditional cultures have much lesser rates of nearsightedness. As people in developed societies reach higher levels of education, rates of nearsightedness increase. Such information has lead some researchers to argue that stress, close working conditions, indoor work and other conditions usual to modern development cause a great percentage of eye problems. We should also add to the list of causative factors pollution, refined foods, unbalanced diet, and reckless living.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, eye conditions and weak eyesight are linked to the liver. The most important liver detoxifying herb in TCM is bupleurum. According to Michael Tierra, Western herbs similar in function to bupleurum are Oregon grape root and dandelion root. Among the various western herbs used to support liver function is milk thistle seed. An important herb used in Chinese cooking for strengthening eyesight is Chinese Wolfberry also known as Golgi Berries in stores in my area. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfberry)

Technology and information sharing is growing at astronomical speeds which are compounded by the vast numbers of people working around the world on discovering answers to countless problems and questions. Yet for any individual person seeking after truth, the most profound answers seldomly fall into our laps.

Ancient people struggled over numerous centuries to discover answers as to why we get sick and what can be done to reverse sickness and to increase health and vitality. As much as modern medicine promotes its ties to ancient Greek medicine, modern medicine so often ignores a great many details, theories and modalities from ancient Greek roots. We are boldly forging forward in a hypnotic stupor as if past discoveries have little relevancy to our superior technological medicines and processes.

In many segments of modern life, we live in a delusion that money and the pursuit of wealth shall provide for our needs and well-being. In such a delusion, greed is good. As long as we make enough money or have enough or the right kind of health insurance, then when or if we get sick we will have the best resources available to overcome our sickness. When did our culture fall asleep? When did we decide that greed was a virtue? That the pursuit of wealth is a pure and undefiled quest that guarantees that all will be well with our souls?

Shouldn’t we have realized that in a selfish society driven by greed that as greed tends to screw over other people, we will also get screwed ourselves by greedy people? In some traditional societies doctors were a lowly profession that got paid when successfully curing disease or preventing it, but not if they failed. Yet in the modern frenzy for monetary gain, healthcare extorts enormous resources from sick people until their last breath. Should we expect the greatest advances in curing or reversing disease to come from such systems? I should think not. If we want answers to our health, we must be actively seeking truth from people who do not have the interest to suck us dry in our time of illness.

In my active search for health information I will be compiling my personal list of resources I am investigating and learning from.

When I bought my first book by Michael Tierra (The Way of Herbs), I had no idea how far I would be going with information compiled by him. Years later I have found myself taking the East West Herbology Course, which I am nearing completion.
